The pergola was integrated with concrete elements, a firepit, water features, and planters, creating an inviting and functional outdoor environment. An elderly parent lived with the family and loved to sit outside but found the intense Colorado sun too overwhelming. The pergola was designed to provide a shaded, comfortable outdoor space, allowing the elderly parents and the rest of the family to enjoy the outdoors for reading, napping, and relaxation without the discomfort of direct sunlight.
