OVERVIEW:
StruXure Denver added a pergola to a beautiful, fairly new home in the affluent community of Cherry Hills Village, CO, a home-rule municipality named for the grove of cherry trees near the original town site. Cherry Hills Village is a predominantly residential neighborhood, about 6 ½ square miles, located approximately 10 miles from downtown Denver in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Most of the impressive homes in Cherry Hills Village feature luxury amenities, large floor plans, and acreage where residents can escape the city and enjoy placid bodies of water and patches of cottonwood. This home on Village Road was no exception, and when the new homeowner purchased this beautiful estate in 2020, they decided to completely renovate the indoor and outdoor space.
To complement the upgraded outdoor seating area featuring a kitchen, smoker, and a U-shaped bar suitable for seating up to 15 people, the homeowner desired a covered pergola to provide covered outdoor space between the patio and the garage, overlooking the new larger swimming pool.
Project Details
CHALLENGE:
Most of the homes in Cherry Hills Village feature traditional architecture and stately embellishments like stone façades and columns. This residential home was built in 2012 and was constructed with real limestone fascia, a sturdy, tough surface that was about 4 inches thick. The face of the rock had to be ground down to mount the pergola beams to ensure a sturdy installation that fit perfectly between the garage and the outdoor patio.
StruXure Denver was flexible in working with the homeowner during additional construction and performed the pergola installation in phases while work was still being finished on the new pool and the tile floor. We first installed the beams, waited for the floor to be completed, and came back and finished when the space was ready.
SOLUTION
Pivot 6 Aluminum Pergola
StruXure Denver installed a 20’ x 40’ Pivot 6 pergola with four zones and several accessories. No screens were required as the area was already enclosed on three sides, with a beautiful stone wall as the backdrop along the entire patio. This stylish Pivot pergola features fans, lighting, and heaters, as well as a misting system for a cooling effect in the stifling Denver summer. The cooling system disperses a light mist which quickly turns to vapor to cool the area without causing actual dampness on guests. The heaters were mounted to the underside with wiring hidden in the gutter via brackets to provide more of a three-season room outdoor space.
This Pivot 6 pergola in a bronze color matched the windows and the trim beautifully, with sturdy and stylish 8” posts and 5” gutters. Remote control top louvers provided easy adjustment to control sunlight and provide leak-free protection from the rain. The patented pass-through, integrated gutter system provides superior drainage performance and keeps the area clear from pooling water.
RESULTS:
This homeowner in Cherry Hills Village was pleased with the large, four-zone pergola that covered the newly renovated patio featuring new tile, an outdoor kitchen, a seating area, and the large U-shaped bar for entertainment. This allowed for large outdoor parties where everyone could relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the outdoor covered area in comfort with a direct view of the pool and impeccably landscaped yard.
